So I walked into my 9:00 a.m. genetics class. My teacher is on his honeymoon...so our assignment was to pick a parable and relate it to our interest in science and also to pick a topic of controversy. SO, there was a new girl that I had never seen before there. As we begin to go around sharing our parables she looks at us and unashamed says: "I have no idea what I'm doing! I'm new here from FL...and I have no clue about religion." One girl hands her a Bible and she starts to frantically flip through. We instructed her to find a "parable" After about ten minutes one girl says to her: "Do you know what a parable is?" and she says "No clue." Haha how stupid of us to assume...but that is how our culture is..We assume everyone knows about Jesus. This girl is an exception! My insides began to almost burst for joy! I thought "WOW God! Wow. You brought this girl ALL the way here to Montreat College because you care!!!" She picks a passage about divorce and claims that it sticks out to her. She says "I've been there..and These are some pretty powerful words!" I thought Oh darlin' if you only knew...and you will. Now me being somewhat of an introvert in my personality, am usually intimidated by new students but oh was the Spirit stirring in my heart. I reassured her that she was neither "weird" or "stupid" for not knowing. I told her there were probably others on this campus who just don't admit it. I then gave her my information and prayed that the Lord would do a work and I am willing to help in anyway he wants me to! I just can't describe the joy in my heart, it's completely supernatural. God is soo good to bring this girl all the way here. She is so fresh and has no religious spirit for me to fight. I know God is up to something and I am just excited that I get to see it!
"Suppose one of you had a hundred sheep and lost one. Wouldn't you leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness and go after the lost one until you found it? When found, you can be sure you would put it across your shoulders, rejoicing, and when you got home call in your friends and neighbors, saying, 'Celebrate with me! I've found my lost sheep!' Count on it—there's more joy in heaven over one sinner's rescued life than over ninety-nine good people in no need of rescue."-Luke 15:4-7 (The Message)
