"Welcome to Montreat"

We have a phrase for when some of the following things go wrong at Montreat: mold in your dorm room, the maintenance men delaying your request, the food, the out of breath experience you get from walking in the high elevation, people driving off and leaving you..etc. "Welcome to Montreat." It gives Montreat such a bad connotation! In truth, just like any other place in the world, you take the bad with the good and there is good. My new RD, bless her heart, is determined that McGregor will be the best residence hall that ever was. She did not realize the work it would take to accomplish that task. So needless to say I have been a busy little beaver. Today, I have taken a couple of hours to be in Asheville, eat a meal alone, and have some coffee. It is good to be in solitude, truly! There are so many things I could write about but time just won't allow. I desperately miss the closeness of the people at home. I realize each year when I go off to school how hard it is to develop solid, strong, relationships. It takes years and years..and home has that for me, even if its just a handful of people. So that I miss, however, school is stretching in so many good ways and I am definitely learning.
