It all began with a Baby in a Manger...

As I am celebrating Christmas, I am thinking of the way Jesus came. I am thinking of the day of a birth that would alter all eternity. It's a mystery to me of all the ways God could have brought us salvation he chose to begin with a baby in a manger. No grand entrance for the savior he would use to alter the course of the entire world. I am thinking of how this beginning relates to my own life. It's so easy to look at the here and now and to forget the promises of God and how they will play out. However, no one understood who exactly Jesus was and what he would do because of the way it began. They couldn't dream that the Son of God would come in a lowly manger and live as a carpenter. So many times I look at my situations and I think "I can't imagine how..." but I am reminded of the verse in Zechariah 4:10 "Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin, to see the plumb line in Zerubbabel’s hand.” This just fills me with Joy! God does not do things the way we think they should be done and what is going on right now is NO indication of how things will turn out..We are so impatient. Jesus waited 30 years to start his public ministry I get upset if I have to wait a few months. We don't understand the ways of God...He is so out of the box. I am so expectant of what He is going to do in my life but at the same time I have SO much doubt. Jesus, I believe, Help my unbelief. Let the new beginning..begin..a journey of faith, patience, and the fulfillment of Promises.
