Moving from Defense to Offense

On the way home last night, I made a decision to feed my spirit-man. I cut off the music, did my best to turn off my thoughts of situations, driving, school, the fact that I was tired..and for a long time I listened to this Amazing cd a friend gave to me. It was a guy preaching (I can't remember his name) but there was music in the background, some of the BEST preaching I have EVER heard. He talked about a variety of different things each of them lasting about 5 minutes each but one of the things that particularly stuck out to me was this: He began to talk about our eyes. He began to cry out for God's mercy and beg God to heal the Church's eyes, this nations eyes. He talked about how we have filled our eyes with "good" things substituting seeing God. He said we have filled our eyes with so many PG movies that we have no desire to REALLY seek to see God. We have shut off revelation of the Spirit of God in our lives..with good things. With worthless idols. As someone who is obsessed with tv, movies, and stuff that is pleasing to my eyes..I was extremely convicted. Not in the "I'm a bad person, I should never watch another movie again." Not in the legalistic sense but in the sense that BECAUSE of what I watch, listen to, speak, think...I am CONSTANTLY on the defense. I have to spend most of my time begging God to let me hear him, or renew my mind, or get all the crap out of my head so I can have intimacy with Him. Well, Something occurred to me today..We are supposed to be in PURSUIT of the living God (Hosea 2, Jer. 33:3). We are not supposed to be spending our time "trying to Hear, trying to See Him" we are supposed to be LIVING THAT LIFESTYLE. I feel like the Lord is saying it's time to move from defense to offense. Quit fighting and start pursuing. Satan has us preoccupied with ourselves, our decisions, our sin that we are not pursuing God. We don't have a hunger to SEE HIM. We are not getting revelation because we are polluted. We have filled ourselves with SO much junk...We need to have a cleansing of ourselves. We need to be cleaned out! This preacher talked about how pornography is an 8 million dollar industry per year. More than NFL and major leagues combined. We have corrupted our eyes. Jesus said: Matthew 6:22-23 (New International Version)

"The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!"

The eyes and ears are our portals of entry. We must GUARD THEM! There is a reason why Jesus said LOOK AT ME. He commanded us to FIX our eyes. Not gaze once a day, not look at for an hour, CONSTANTLY GAZE..unmoving On HIM. WHY?? Because the Bible says in

Rev. 4 At once I was in the Spirit, and there before me was a throne in heaven with someone sitting on it. 3And the one who sat there had the appearance of jasper and carnelian. A rainbow, resembling an emerald, encircled the throne. 4Surrounding the throne were twenty-four other thrones, and seated on them were twenty-four elders. They were dressed in white and had crowns of gold on their heads. 5From the throne came flashes of lightning, rumblings and peals of thunder. Before the throne, seven lamps were blazing. These are the seven spirits[a] of God. 6Also before the throne there was what looked like a sea of glass, clear as crystal.

HE IS GLORIOUS. God created the Seraphim creatures and literally there job is to look at Him. The Bible says they are covered with eyes and their job is to Stare at HIM. The word seraphim means Burning Ones. Why does God tell us to fix our eyes on him? To meditate on his word? Because To Behold him is to behold glory, one glance changes you forever. This preacher also talked about how we are SO boring. We get tired of the same worship song, in heaven they sing the same worship WORD. over and over for eternity they never stop crying holy, holy, holy. He said we need to press delete on everything we think we know about God and Ask God for the revelation of who He is. We need to LOOK AT HIM. If we want revelation, the visions, the power, the presence, the fire, the glory. We must gaze on Him, we must actively pursue we must hear his call to "COME UP HERE!" and Come! We have a rightful place to approach His throne through the blood of Jesus...We must TAKE IT. We are too busy trying to get away from all this mess we've allowed in our lives when God has already defeated Satan, he has the keys. It's time to be offensive in the pursuit of the knowledge of God! God, wake us up!
