Twilight Parallels

Okay, So everyone knows I was the most avid anti-twilight person ever. I'm not a fan of anything that is straight up evil whether that be ghosts, vampires etc. and I absolutely refused to watch it based on the sole fact that America is obsessed. Granted the examples they've given us of vampires are shows like Buffy the Vampire slayer which is about as evil as it comes. After hearing MANY MANY of my trusted Christian friends and family brag about Twilight, I broke down last night and watched it. I really believe I have some insight on this movie. Granted in many ways it is highly unrealistic but I think unrealistic things are the things are souls long for. I heard someone once say..can't really remember who "We are all longing for the supernatural." Some people search for it in the Holy Spirit and others go the total opposite and try the fake perverted version satan has tried to form. That's what I tagged twilight as..the New Harry Potter. I was wrong. It's not gory and there are GREAT parallels of good vs. evil, sacrafice, and denying the sinful nature. Now granted, vampires don't exist but I don't focus on the vampire part of twilight but on the character of Edward and the other characters. Edward is any girls dream. His love for Bella is beyond every selfish desire that he has. He stands for virture and purity and he hates evil. He protects the innocent. I was truly impressed. I believe twilight is a lot more positive than some of the sex filled movies they are producing today. It makes you think. It makes you think about your sinful nature, loving and protecting others. I have to admit, I was wrong. Granted, this is the first movie of the series. I don't know what the others will be like and I may change my mind if they get progressively worse but for now, I am a Twilight Fan :).
